Who we are...

Who we are...

charmed by choice, the blog has been a long thoughtful walk through choices. Ultimately, choices to be resilient.
Our family is one of the thousands of real life examples from this recession ...
we have experienced jobloss, mounting debt, property depreciation....
After spending some time hovering in the freak out mode...we have decided there is a choice to be made.
We can choose to stare at all that's challenging us,
or search and concentrate on all the incredible examples of resiliency.
Come along and be amazed at how many people live resiliently...
recovering finacially, emotionally, physically, spiritually...
We've all been told not to stare... but I invite you to stare at all that's resilient.
Let's be inspired and inspire each other.

Straight from Bead For Life

ABeadforLife and Joseph Kony
Controversy is often good. It makes people aware of the complexity of global issues. This is what we've all witnessed over the past weeks since Invisible Children launched their Kony 2012 video, which has now been viewed by an incredible 86 million people! As a non-profit organization working on the ground in Northern Uganda, we're grateful that a light has been shown on Joseph Kony and his rebel group known as the Lord's Resistance Army. The LRA has terrorized people in Northern Uganda and Central Africa for over 25 years. The LRA was chased out of Northern Uganda 6 years ago and has not operated there since. However, the LRA continues to terrorize people in Congo, Chad, South Sudan, and Central African Republic.
The tens of thousands of people in Uganda who were displaced, losing their homes, land, and loved ones, work hard every day to rebuild their lives. BeadforLife is assisting them by creating markets for the shea nuts which grow abundantly across the landscape in Northern Uganda. We are creating a sustainable income stream that will not only provide women farmers with money, but will also help them to develop a sense of pride in that they'll no longer have to depend on handouts by aid groups. We accompany this market-led program with opportunities for people to improve the agriculture on which they depend by providing access to ox plows, seeds, direct links to markets, and health products.
Their work is to rebuild their lives, to heal from the psychological wounds of war, and to create a better future for their families. If you choose to support this work through BeadforLife, you will provide income-generating opportunities for people who have suffered the wrath of Joseph Kony. You can do something to make a difference and we welcome your support by purchasing our shea products or beads, or hosting a BeadParty. Thank You!
All the best,
Devin Hibbard
